“Geeti has collaborated with us in designing and offering multiple trauma-informed workshops at Austin Community College’s Center for Peace & Conflict Studies.

She made each session approachable for all levels, and shared her knowledge and expertise in the most gentle and affirming way. We continue to get requests for her yoga sessions!”

Workplace stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and unresolved trauma can deeply affect how your team shows up each day.

While traditional wellness offerings like yoga classes can help, they often fail to address the underlying distress and trauma. That’s where trauma-informed yoga therapy makes all of the difference.

With over a decade of experience providing yoga therapy in mental health settings, I bring a unique skillset that goes far beyond physical practice.

As a trauma-informed yoga therapist and mental health clinician I understand how anxiety, trauma, depression, and stress can manifest in the body—and how to safely guide individuals through practices that regulate the nervous system, foster resilience, and create a sense of grounding.

My mission is to create a space where healing and relief happen safely, compassionately, and effectively.

why does trauma-informed yoga therapy matter?

Safer, more inclusive wellness programs where employees feel supported rather than triggered.

Practical tools for emotional regulation that can be applied both in and outside of the workplace.

A therapeutic, not just fitness-based, approach to yoga that aligns with mental health awareness and trauma-sensitive practices.

Investing in trauma-informed yoga therapy is more than a wellness perk—it’s a way to create a healthier, more resilient workplace culture.

What are the benefits of trauma-informed yoga therapy?

empowerment

Trauma-informed yoga helps individuals reconnect with their bodies in a safe, non-judgmental environment. It fosters choice and agency, allowing people to move at their own pace and rebuild trust in themselves.

rest

By focusing on breath, gentle movement, and mindfulness, trauma-informed yoga calms the nervous system. This can reduce symptoms of anxiety, hypervigilance, and overwhelm commonly experienced by trauma survivors.

FAQs

  • Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy is a way of using yoga—movement, breathing, and mindfulness—in a safe, supportive setting to help people who have experienced trauma. Instead of focusing only on exercise or flexibility, it’s about gently reconnecting with your body, calming your nervous system, and building tools to handle stress or triggers.

It’s guided by a yoga therapist trained in both yoga and mental health, so the practices are personalized and designed to help you feel grounded, safe, and supported in your healing.

  • Trauma-Informed Yoga
This is a style of yoga that makes traditional classes safer and more supportive for people with a history of trauma. Teachers use invitational language (for example, “you might try…”), provide choices, avoid triggering cues or physical adjustments, and emphasize empowerment. The intention is to create a safe, grounding environment where participants can explore yoga practices without fear of re-experiencing trauma.

    Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy
This approach goes a step further. Trauma-informed yoga therapy uses movement, breathwork, and mindfulness within a therapeutic relationship to directly address how trauma affects both mind and body. Sessions are often one-on-one or in small groups and are guided by a certified yoga therapist with specialized training in trauma-sensitive methods. Practices are tailored to each individual, supporting symptoms such as anxiety, hypervigilance, or disconnection, and may serve as a complement to mental health or medical care.
